I popped in to see how things were going here on the forum and seeing this thread reminded of why I left. I pop in game every now and again just to see if any old players are about and I do not generally see them so I run around a bit then log. But the main reason I left was a couple of DM's seem to get their rocks off in loading some players with rocks or what have you that slowed us down to a crawl. It would not have been as bad if we had been able to remove the damn things but NO...I had to wait almost 2 months before I came across another DM who would remove them. Not too mention those same DM's delighted in dropping a gaggle of monsters in our laps right after we had killed a boss. Back when Posi and Neg were still new it was a challenge to begin with nevermind when half the party is dead and the other half is spent...
The spawn camping, battle logging and the relic tapping were just the icing on the cake.
I loved the potential this server had and I thank DD, Lokey, Tep and the rest of the crew for giving me a few thousand hours of enjoyment.
Take it easy all, and maybe I will catch a few of you in game at some point...

First active thread beyond EPW in months, a little airing of the laundry is to be expected.

How does reducing guilds or removing them add more players?
Ive popped in a couple times since last year. But for me every mountain has been conquered every build has been built , 60+ lvl40s... I raided the other day and fought the same toons i did 2 years ago Its been a good run lots of great battles , good friends , good enemies but I think its time to stop trying to revive the dying and let the server lay as is.

I haven't been playing due to real life time reasons, so I'd really appreciate it if the server could fix those things and free up some spare time for me...

But really a crux of PvP on the server has always been that the team with the most players participating usually wins, and most people don't like losing, so most factions attack when they feel like they have a number advantage, which leads to lopsided battles in many cases. Otherwise. If you don't have numbers, people resort to surprise raids with pure monks and stuff that isn't all that fun to defend against. Unfortunately I never could think of a good way to solve this without needing to organize fury fight club style events.

Otherwise, alka makes a good point about feeling like he has built everything. I personally haven't built everything in game, but I do feel like everything worthwhile has been done by someone at this point. I for a long time wanted a shake up in class abilities to open up build possibilities. Mainly by making pure fighter/barb/paladin abilities available to multiclassers (with the proper re-balancing of course) and by adding new abilities to underused classes (like assassin) that would also be useful for multiclassers instead of just pure class builds. Keeping people interested in build possibilities is a really good way to keep people engaged.

... does ns4 even have devs anymore . i logged onto irc and ther was no Lokey, Mining, brihl has long gone... there was a time when i would have coDEd for ns but my those times have long since pa$$ed . love this server love the players love the glory of days long past. Perhaps its rude of me to say anything... keep on the fight!!!

Never fear Lokey is alive and well and working dilligently to make NS4 'child proof'. Considering how many of us are still here, he job never ends.

Minning is on temporary loan to A.S.S. the Australian Secret Service, they still despertly trying to back enginer the Atari Frogger game.

Meanwhile Torm the Almighty has awakened from his long slumber and returned to the benifit of Good and law abiding folk.

The dwarven nation is united in thier drinking of toasts to Hanseath the Bearded One, who's slurring humor keeps the bellies shaking with laughter.

Boccob the Archmage of Aetheria, still roams the heavins, muttering his incantations incessantly.

Even ole Gorm, Fire Eyes, peers down upon Aetheria still.

deputydog, still reads these forums and makes snide comments.

And there is I, Pan, the Great God, wanderer of the Wilds and chaser of nymphs everywhere.

And those are just the ones seen in past week. Ohh and did you hear? Defender of the Relic event coming up, there is a whole new guild of toons you havent schooled in defender PvP yet. Dont think your days are quite over yet old friend.

There's some hold-up on things dev because of the big change thread. It'll happen sometime, until it does that and a back-end problem (not that kind you sickos) is causing some dev constipation.

I've been knocking out some low hanging fruit and some minor annoyances I didn't have time for say last spring/summer because there were bigger things to ruin then. It's not the kind of things that makes 40 rogue less/more of a bad idea.

I'm around on irc most evenings your time alka. Mining's usually on from early morning my time until I don't know, the problem of shared comps I did have a nice dev vacation in the fall, twas great. Like Mac says there's some new faces and some old faces around lately, but this isn't a job for anyone (playing, dming, devving). If it's not fun most of the time, dont...and it's doubtful we'll see the glory days of 2009-12 again, but you never know.

I appreciate all the replies. Perhaps NS4's life has ran its course, if so I appreciated many fun filled and sometimes frustrating times thou I hope NS4 is alive and well for a long time. I say thank you to friends that helped and enemies for the battles..thou most were both friend and foe just depending on the battle at hand. I also want to thank the devs and dms...even ones that got his/her kicks on seein me die.

there are some players that stay here too long time , and they got all kinds of 'unique' gears that made by DMs as the event bonus, such as :hide in plain sign feat gear(a SL guy's fighter/assassin still hide in plain sign O.o) ,heavy armor feat blackSS, 8discpline blackSS,10hide Aoa belt etc.

and someone got too many +4books(average per toon used 2-6 +4books-----what the (&(*) ! what time the +4books drop rating same with +2 books?)

then i saw the worst thing today, a event that only 5 ppl joined ,we got 5 random books, average per player got 1......OMG please stop do it again!

when i told other player this thing, they told me it had happend on the last month too,but the players only got 4 random books in the event.......

final, i just want to say a words to all DMs:i think you dont know what should you do in the server, we dont need your balor xp event , dont need your special unique gears, even dont need your random books, we just need a fair environment. so please dont intervene ppl too much!

thanks for the server , but i have to say byebye , really dislike somethings that some DMs done.maybe will be back after the next wipe!
