I know assassins have some great perks these days but still are a negligible foe TBH.

I have an idea, I have no idea even if its doable or if it maybe overpowered but

Death Strike Paralyze currently is negated by anyone with FoM , Crit Immunity, Sneak Immunity and Duergar(not actually tested this ever)
Maybe let it bypass FoM?

For those of you who don't know how Death Strike works.
The victim can't be in combat (includes hitting anything, casting or even countering)
Assassin needs to score a Sneak attack (usualy can only be accomplished by corner sneaking succesffully right on top of victim)
Assassin has to score a hit bypass concealment etc..
The victim then gets a saving throw vs flat fort. (Most Assassins have anywhere between 45-52 DC Although 60dc is possible with great expense to everything a pvp player needs to compete)

Just so you understand the process of actually getting a hit off with an assassin. Not an easy task but very gratifying'
And yes we get the venom death strike aswell which does bypass all immunities and its at -5 dc of regular DStrike which is pretty awesome but how many of you have actually been killed by it (exclude Revel he's a glutton for punishment)

all that compared to say Stunning Fists 60dc x30, 48dc implodes,BlackBladeD,Wail, 48+dcBLoodyRoars, pretty much Unbeatable Warlords Rumble,50DC Fears just too name a few

So What say you (if possile) Remove FoM immunity to Death Attack? Comments anyone?

I did not vote because I don't agree with the options.

Add FoM Immunity & Indoor HiPS and I'll vote!

The concept of Freedom of Movement immunity to form a death attack seems preposterous.

Fix the broken duration, then we can talk about removing immunities.

I have to disagree. As it is now none of my TC builds are able to withstand the death attack of an assassin. I find the instant kill very annoying and in my experience going up against an Assassin defender in SL's crade as been an gauranteed loss for me and a gauranteed win for the assassin. Just my experience.

Besides FoM is mordable and I assume most assassin builds are/were/can be built with UMD, and have access to Mord scrolls.

I'd just been talking about giving everything immune to paralysis and using something else on the 15 odd things that cause it :)

If you're susceptible to it, it's awful. 10 + sin level + int is a high dc to roll, even if fort, and failing is worse than death. A bajillion sneak damage is already pretty good.

I was just about to say, Lokey's almost converted me to how good 'sin DA really is, made me want to run a 'sin, lol.

Just for argument sake, in a 1v1 situation assassin defintely has an advantage but 1v1 only exists on paper.
I've said it before every build but a pure barb has access to FoM almost infinitely, so I mord you, go hide around a corner, wait till your sitting still, in which time you throw up another fom. Stategically speaking one would never get the para attack on them. Its a one trick pony that can only use its trick once every 5 mins.
Roll up an Assassin mining I'll mop the floor with it 1v1 with about 90% of my 40's ;)

imo, assassins really need some abilities that synergize with other classes. No matter how much death attack is tweaked, it is still going to be a one-trick pony that is only useful to one type of assassin build (a corner sneak with the best death attack DC it can get). Any SL player is just going to build one and get bored with it eventually.

I struggle with this a little, but I was thinking there could be some synergies with arcane casting classes in some way, like reduced spell failure with assassin levels or spell improvements for anyone with assassin levels. Specifically for things that aren't just about hiding and using death attack, like boosts to tensors or something, which could be combined with the reduced spell failure to create gish/spellsword type builds. Of course this is a pretty vague idea, but it could make assassins more exciting for builders.

The improved death attack should bypass FoM, no?

The venom attack does yes. Its awesome for lowbies and rare cases 1v1, Itx just not a effective pvm or pvp class still i love to play mine but making 1 kill and going to hide for 5 mins isnt much fun.

I would but I'm terrible at corner sneaks because I have some latency which means I can't actually hide behind the really dodgy corners like I should be able to.

It is an assassin though. If you dont wanna hide play something else? I mean in the spirit of things the assassin should be the one coming in... waiting, waiting, waiting, BAM DEAD. Run, hide, wait, wait, wait, BAM DEAD.

I would also say most of the SL assassins do this pretty well, hiding outside of transitions to get easy para/kills. Though trans spamming is a little lame, nothing wrong with using what you got.

Don't forget hiding by the SL cradle for the raider to steal a relic being completly dispelled of all buffs...ie no FoM.
