Wood Elf Bio

Wood Elves are reclusive, but less so than the almost feral wild elves. Also called Copper Elves, they have coppery skin tinged with green and brown, green or hazel eyes. Their hair is usually brown or black, with blond and coppery-red occasionally found.

Note: Wood Elf is a Subrace of Elves. To choose it you must pick Elf at creation and choose Wood Elf at first login.

Choosing the Elf race will include Elf adjustments already, therefore your stats will be adjusted from those selected at character creation as follows:

+2 Strength, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma

Wood Elf Guide

Pros: While a Wild Elf capitalizes the use of Wisdom, a Wood Elf on the other hand focuses on developing his fighting capabilities having a +2 to Strength as well as Dexterity. This gives The Wood Elf additional strength to boost his AB by +1 as well as provide him more capability to carry heavier items. The +2 Dexterity provides the Wood Elf a +1 to AC as well as give him +1 to AB if he uses a bow or engage enemies with Weapon Finesse.

Having +2 to Animal Empathy, Set Trap and Search gives him a boost in doing functions of a Ranger for drawing an animal to his aid or setup nefarious traps against enemies. A Rogue may also make use of the said bonuses but not as fully as a Ranger can.

Another thing to take note is the Wood Elf having no Level Adjustment. This gives the player a chance to level the character faster than other subraces.

Cons: Considering the penalties, it throws Wood Elf off a bit since there are more reductions compared to the bonuses he receives. A -2 to Constitution only tells the player to play more carefully or otherwise invest more attributes in Constitution. A reduction to Intelligence and Charisma makes an arcane spellcaster pretty much out of the question. The -2 to Intelligence also reduces the amount of skillpoints the Wood Elf can receive.

Conclusion: Although the Wood Elf receives a couple of bonuses, it is bit thwarted by the penalties he receives. The +2 to Strength and Dexterity only means that the Wood Elf should lean more into being a physical character than a spellcaster. Divine spellcasters will be better served by the Wild Elf race. Still, having no Level Adjustment makes this race favorable to play.
